Ear Correction surgery is a unique cosmetic surgery procedure which is normally performed on children ages 4 to 14 years old. For the surgery to be performed it is important that the ears are fully developed. Adults may undergo this procedure to correct any traumatic injuries which has led to deformities. Ear surgery can be adopted by those who suffer from the follow issues

  • Distended ears
  • Malformed earlobes
  • Small ears or abnormally shaped ears

The Ear Surgery Procedure

Depending on the issue that is being corrected, the procedure may vary from patients to patients. However all ear correction & pinning are performed under general anesthesia and on an outpatient basis, i.e. you will be able to return home on the same day of surgery. Some children who experience more lasting side effects of anesthesia may stay overnight at the hospital or in our surgical facility.

An inconspicuous incision is made behind the ear through which the Doctors will access the tissues of the ear. For particularly large ears, excess tissues are removed and ears are repositioned closer to the head, creating a more normal appearance. In instances where the ears are malformed or extremely small use of a technique known as grafting is performed to add tissue and cartilage to the ear. Grafting is a more extensive procedure because it requires the surgeons to remove skin and tissue from one part of your body and relocate it to the ear, and hence the extent of an ear reshaping surgery will depend on the changes being made.
